The Tucson Police Department is pleased to announce that it will be hosting the 26th Annual Southwest Police Motorcycle Training Competition (SPMTC). This highly anticipated, annual event is scheduled for April 14th & 15th, 2023 at Kino Sports Complex, 2500 E Ajo Way, from approximately 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM. The public is invited to view this dynamic display of police motorcycle skills free of charge.

SPMTC was started in 1997 by the Tucson Police Department with the initial intent of bringing motorcycle police officers of various agencies together in an exchange of training techniques through a friendly skills competition.

To reduce the work load on any one agency, the organization of the SPMTC event began to rotate between the participating agencies. The Tucson Police Department, Phoenix Police Department and Las Vegas Metro Police Department accepted this challenge. In 2016 the Pima County Sheriff’s Department was honored to be accepted for this same challenge. In 2022, the Tucson Police Department was honored to accept the challenge.  Over the years SPMTC has enjoyed great success in its ability to raise money for beneficiaries, while providing an entertaining venue for the public.  This years beneficiary is Kent's Heart & Hope Foundation.

The entry fee is $125 per competitor.  This includes an SPMTC shirt, rider specific coin, event program, and one ticket for the awards banquet Saturday evening.

Want to purchase extra event shirts, SPMTC rider coins or extra banquet tickets?

The SPMTC host hotel is The DoubleTree by Hilton Tucson - Reid Park, located at 445 South Alvernon Way, Tucson, AZ, 85711.  The hotel is set in 14 acres of landscaped gardens and is across the road from Reid Park.

Kino Sports Complex is roughly 3 miles from the hotel. If you are bringing family, the hotel has a wonderful pool area, and is located within a few miles of several of Tucson's attractions.  The hotel offers a free local shuttle, golf course, and a spa. Enjoy a warm DoubleTree cookie on arrival.

The SPMTC Banquet will be held at the hotel as well on Saturday, April 15th.  We have secured and blocked off special room rates (max room block is 75 - so book early!)
